Innodata Employee Day at Vista Mar Beach Resort & Country Club
Innodata Employee Day was held at Vista Mar Beach Resort & Country Club last September 14, 2014. It was the first (since the day I was hired) event that the company held for their employees and it's about time and I salute the organizers for that.
Pre-Departure
20 buses were available at a specified venue from 6:00am to 7:30am and I must say it was well organized and there were no problems at going to the venue (free meat roll during the trip but there were no juice or drinks to quench the thirst after eating the meat roll "matuk an man sad ta!"). We departed at around 7:20am. It was a short distance travel from Innodata to Vista Mar and we arrived at around 8:00am. Vista Mar employees and some guards are at the entrance to check our bags (No alcoholic beverages and viands are allowed inside) and instruct us to swipe our company ID's so that we will be given our Food and Drink stubs with our assigned Food Stations (I was assigned at Station 7).
The Venue
We checked the place for a bit and went to our corresponding food stations so that we won't be looking for it on the eleventh hour. At around 8:30am "The Amazing Race" game was about to begin and the host started calling the participants from each department. It was not that surprising that Lawbook and Elsevier Department participants were unable to participate because some of them were unable to come. So both departments were merged as one. The game was fun at first but then we got bored and decided to go outside and looked for a store and bought ourselves some beer since alcoholic beverages are not allowed inside Vista Mar. After about 2 hours we headed back since lunch will be served shortly. We managed to smuggle 2 bottles of "Emperador Light" inside Vista Mar.
Lunch Time
At around 11:00am lunch was served and we went to our respective food stations and was surprised that some food stations were out of food so from Station 7 (my Station) I went to Station 9 and finally got my free meal. While munching the lechon skin I overheard one Innodata employee that was complaining to the food station attendant that her station was out of food so she went to the other food stations and the situation was the same. (Kalooy sad tawn... hahahaha!).
After Lunch
We were full and we need to chill. One of my friends got the "Inasals" head and it was just a perfect pair with our smuggled "Emperador Light". So we went at the beach front and started our "inuman session". While we were chilling out, the Zumba dance craze started and everyone was dancing to the Zumba beat and it lasted for about 30 minutes or so.
Going Home
At 3:00pm buses were available for those who want to go home early (sa mga wa na lingaw...). Sad but true most of the employees went home early.
Pros: Free, Well organized by the Innodata organizers.
Cons: Food Shortage, Vista Mar staff are not that accommodating.
